Garlieston - Scotland

A beautiful village port south of Newton Stewart, I first visited Garlieston as a boy. I was brought up in the tenement flats of Glasgow and school children were sometimes offered a 'holiday' by their schools. Three weeks away with our teachers!! We stayed in Galloway House, near Garlieston, and we used to walk to the village quite often. The house itself was owned by Glasgow Corporation at the time. In actual fact, we all had a super time. After all, we hadn't really seen the countryside before then!
